Repairing a scarf with contrasting trim
Ecrit le 15 oct. 2026 17:02I inherited a patterned scarf with a damaged border, and I would like to repair it so I can wear it again. I would rather test carefully than unpick stitches from fragile fabric later. Most of the fabric is usable, although the narrow outside border has lost its color. I found a quiet green trim and a warmer brown alternative at the fabric shop. A perfect color match seems impossible, so I am considering a deliberately visible repair. This led me to read about color analysis because the repaired border will sit close to my face when the scarf is tied. I can pin short samples in place before sewing anything onto the old fabric. I want to preserve its character, but I also want to enjoy wearing it. How would you balance harmony with the existing pattern against the effect near the face?
